ISI Inspection Report, May 2013

Shrewsbury House School offers excellent pastoral care. The wellbeing and care of the boys is fundamentally important and absolutely central to all that we do.

We want boys to be happy, comfortable and to thrive at Shrewsbury House. Our focus is on the whole child, as we are very aware that all aspects of school life contribute significantly to the wellbeing of an individual boy.

All pupils have the opportunity for individual care and support, including on a one-to-one basis. The Pastoral Structure of the school allows support to operate on several different levels. Each boy has their own Form Tutor who oversees their general wellbeing and progress, while a Head of Year maintains an overview on all boys in a year group. The Deputy Headmaster - Pastoral Care, Jon Akhurst, liaises closely with all staff, as well as providing support for parents, too. Parents also have access to their son’s form tutor and are able to liaise directly with them.
