Our six Year 7 boys on the South Africa exchange trip have
settled very well in to life at Western Province Prep School. They have
completed their first full day of school here, experiencing a cross-section of
lessons, including the very familiar (Maths, English and Science) through to
the very different (Afrikaans and Xhosa). Much of the set up here is very
similar to Shrewsbury House so it’s not completely unfamiliar waters.
Speaking of waters, the boys will all get a chance to swim and have a go at water
polo in the lovely outdoor pool, while cricket and tennis are also on offer to
A short marimba lesson yesterday from Mr Pringle, the Head of Music, allowed our boys, alongside some of the WPPS boys, to help create a musical item for our own 150th celebrations. The boys picked
it up surprisingly quickly and did a great job and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It’s a stunning setting here at school, with Table Mountain
towering over the playing fields, where our boys are currently running around, enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Tomorrow we have the opportunity to
explore Cape Town together, with a sightseeing bus trip planned. It would be wrong not to include a quick beach stop as part of the day, wouldn’t it?
